Saxophonist/Guitarist/vocalist Ben Senterfit first tasted success with the a cappella group The Wayfarers in the late 1980's. He had an opportunity to perform in NYC with The legendary Persuasions, at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival with Sam Bush, & Bela Fleck, and with the Cleo Parker Robinson dance troupe. In the early 1990’s Ben helped to form hard edged funk act Chitlin with compatriot Javier Gonzalez before touring nationally with funk-rock band Zuba. In 1996 he began performing improvisational sessions with DJ Timbuk and fellow musicians which would later prove to be the building blocks of The United Dope Front. Since the early 1990’s Ben has recorded and released seven full length releases and been a session musician on over a dozen other recordings. He has performed and opened for such acts as Willie Nelson, Bonnie Raitt, Maceo Parker, Spearhead, and Medeski , Martin and Wood. in 2000 he released a debut solo effort called 'Soulwave' which includes many of the musicians found within the CueZone Records Collective. This year Ben is releasing his second solo effort due out this summer while finishing up a CueZone release called The Dirty Boogaloo with CueZone co-owner Jarad Astin.



Teaching Experience:
Ben began his teaching career on the soccer field at the age of nineteen in Boulder Colorado, coaching third and fourth graders to pass and shoot. At the age of twenty four he began teaching saxophone and guitar lessons and took a job at New Vista High school teaching two Jazz ensembles. By the end of the 1990's with a flourishing private practice and three years of high school teaching experience behind him Ben moved from Boulder to Denver. In 2002 he started working at The Swallow Hill Music Association teaching group classes on guitar and voice. He has been fortunate to study with Dr. Scott Martin, and has recently been certified to teach Dr. Scott's diaphramatic vocal technique. Ben also teaches at the Academy of the Arts and from his private studio in NW Denver. He has studied with many notable teachers including Dr. Scott Martin, Todd Buffa (Rare Silk), Joe Russell (The Persuasions), Art Bouton ( on sax & flute).
